Amsterdam’s Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra has announced that it is terminating its relationship with its Chief Conductor, Daniele Gatti, with immediate effect. Following allegations in the Washington Post, published on July 26, and subsequent reports by female members of the Dutch orchestra, of ‘inappropriate behaviour’, the RCO felt that ‘the relationship of trust between the orchestra and conductor’ had been irreparably damaged. Gatti’s planned concerts with the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra will be take place with other conductors.

Gatti has been Chief Conductor of the RCO since September 2016, when he succeeded Mariss Jansons.
